Siemens
Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry automation, smart infrastructure, rail, mobility and healthcare solutions. It employs more than 300,000 people worldwide and is Europe’s largest industrial manufacturing company.
The brief
Siemens wanted to improve the quality of its graphic and motion design to enable its divisions to communicate better with key stakeholders.
In particular, the company was keen to promote its activities to help tackle climate change.
Siemens also wanted to position itself as a market leader in data management technologies. I created branding and key visuals for divisions specialising in cyber security, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Engaging social media
I created new ways to use the Siemens brand, without stepping outside the guidelines, including creating vibrant treatments for internal and external social channels and revamping existing media such as cinemagraphs.
Publicising environmental projects
I developed campaigns to promote innovative projects, such as an under-street snow melt heating system and a carbon neutral hybrid power plant for the Galapagos islands.
Promoting digital technologies
I drew on traditional techniques such as pointillism and isometrics to show how a network can grow from a single entity and how this collective plays a part in a larger, more complex digital ecosystem.
I also explored other technologies such as point cloud modelling and LiDAR laser scanning to tell the story. Once conceptualised, the treatment was rolled out groupwide and now features prominently in Siemens corporate communications.
Measuring success
Since I began working on the Siemens account in 2018 its social media following has grown, achieving five million followers on LinkedIn in January 2022. Oliver’s marketing support has also expanded and the agency now produces content ranging from publications to 3D animations for the group.
